Anticipation!

Jan 12, 2022

We were performing our Ultimate Date Night at a city in Ohio and for some reason a light was shining down on this couple who had to be in their 80’s.  What was so interesting about them is they couldn’t keep their hands off each other!

After the show they came to our book table and introduced themselves.  I asked if they were newlyweds and they informed me that they have been married for nearly 60 years!  The lady gave a couple elbows to the man.  He leaned in close to me and said “What you did to GET your spouse is what you need to do to KEEP your spouse!”

No truer words have ever been spoken.  Did you date before you got married?  Did you flirt?  Was your day filled with anticipation, knowing you’d see each other that night?

One of the best ways to “keep” each other is to DATE! Dating is essential for the following reasons:

  1. It keeps your marriage a priority – letting the world (and your kids) know you still care about your relationship.
  2. It keeps the romance alive – going out on dates allows you to reconnect with each other which will hopefully lead to RECONNECTING with each other.
  3. It keeps communication lines open – Our friend Edgar has three rules for dating

It can’t just be a movie

No talking about work

No talking about kids

When you date like this you really focus on communicating at a deeper level.

So put some dates on the calendar and treat them like the important “appointments” that they are for your marriage.  Need help coming up with creative ways to date?  Check out our latest book The Ultimate Date Night – 52 Amazing Dates for Busy Couples”
